The Geneva Conventions (Additional Protocol I, Article 79) establish that journalists in armed conflicts are classified and protected as civilians. The UN must go beyond talking and hold countries committing this crime accountable. Nations should live up to their commitment and ensure the safety of journalists, especially during conflicts.
