UNTOLD ACADEMIC JOURNEY

UNTOLD ACADEMIC JOURNEY
The UNTOLD ACADEMIC JOURNEY is not my story. It's his story, yes, his story. But you would be wondering whose story? Seat back and read to find out.

Gaining admission to Nigerian tertiary institutions is one of the hardest tasks an individual who aspires to acquire university education must pass through. It begins with getting the required minimum credit grades in both Mathematics, English, and 2 other relevant subjects combination. This step is attendant with the uncertainty that lies in getting these grades while seating for the SSCE exams. Qualifying for the SSCE doesn't end there. It will only usher one into the JAMB, IJMB, or Univeesity Diploma, which are one of the criteria to fulfil before getting a degree or HND certificate.

I don't know if he would want me to share his story, but should I do that regardless?

His name is Amana Ogoshi. He's my childhood friend, and his academic journey is untold. He never sat me down to tell me all that I'd disclose, but I learnt them myself 'cause we're close.

Ama for short, when I say for short I mean that's the short form of calling his name which has been the culture of we from this part of the world. Ama's story is one laden with challenges. He sat for SSCE (WAEC) twice but couldn't get the minimum required credit grade in Mathematics alone. It looks like their exam centre offended WAEC, LOL! So he chose to register in a "miracle centre" and this time he registered for only NECO because it's rumoured that people don't fail NECO in that centre. Every Nigerian who sat for SSCE in the 2000s should know what "a miracle centre " is. Lo and behold, he passed Mathematics this time around after the 3rd attempt. But the story didn't end here. It only gets interesting... because this is the beginning of the main journey. I will stop here and I'd seek Ama's consent to see if I could continue this story if granted I'll be back with the whole gist, or maybe the likes I get in this will encourage me to convince Amana that people really want to hear his story.

Show some love. Gift @nwekechinonso2022 something as TIPs
